Cartoons + Sustainability
Happy Earth Day 2008!

Funded by a MDeC Digital Comics grant, three passionate Malaysian cartoonists from Cedko.com begun their [e][p][i][c] journey six months ago and today, in celebration of Earth Day (cartoonist style!), Cedko presents you an inspiring story with a great Malaysian feel and a global message... Stop Global Warming! Cedko is proud to present you...www.d-impossibles.com!

a
A talented but struggling Malaysian cartoonist juggles between his freelance cartooning and part-time job but after three years of long hard struggle, his cartooning career is going nowhere. Discouraged by his lack of success and his parent's constant nagging “why don't you just get a real job?”, he begins to lose faith in himself.
Feeling depressed after his latest rejection from a cartoon syndication, he goes to sleep... hoping that this is all just a very bad dream!

a
a
He falls into a very deep sleep and dreams of three Malaysian superheroes; Dimples (Form Five student), Boss (director of a bank; River Bank) & I (DJ and wedding singer); who call themselves d-impossibles!
a
When a special Police Task Force fails to solve the case of 8 Swedish tourists who disappeared while visiting the Idea Furniture Mall, d-impossibles are summoned (via their website!) to the Balai to solve the case. During a series of encounters with Aunt-B-Table (a dressing table that transforms into an octopus!), d-impossibles uncover the real threat to mankind... Global Warming!!!
a
What is Global Warming? Why is the Mother Earth getting warmer each day? What is the connection between Global Warming and the Idea Furniture Mall? Who is the sinister character behind Idea? With the help of their super cool superpowers and unwavering believe that “I'm Possible!”, d-impossibles begin their toughest mission yet!

a
a
Our Malaysian cartoonist wakes up, jumps out of bed and quickly sketches out scenes from d-impossibles dream! “Ha ha... d-impossibles... what an incredible story, I'm sure that my comics submission will be successful this time round – I'm Possible!"

Book 3 - Wisdom

THE WISDOM SERIES talks about sustainability or rather how to measure sustainability. Alan AtKisson in his book "Believing Cassandra" had profound insight when he said, "It's perhaps easier to measure sustainability than to talk about it."

Why a sustainability theme?

Sustainability is one of Cedko's two niches, the other being Family.
a
2004 - 2015 is the United Nations Decade of Education for Sustainable Development.
a
Past UN Secretary General Kofi Annan said "Our biggest challenge in this new century is to take an idea that seems abstract – sustainable development – and turn it into a daily reality for all the world’s people."
